Look who's cooking

It's really a shame I don't have a "before" picture of this play stove, because you wouldn't believe how ugly it was. Originally it was sold as a bedside table for kids and it was painted in four bright colors: red, yellow, green and blue. Tacky. My husband painted it white inside out, we changed the hinges so that what originally was a little door is now the "oven hatch" that opens from the top. We added the metal knobs and made the hot plates from black plastic.

I found a cute little pot at the drift store. The color is just plain pretty, a soft aqua. And the size is just right for playtime although I could keep it to myself as well and just admire it.

Dinner's ready!

I have also made some playfood for the kids. Carrots, fried eggs. A little basket of strawberries (somehow most of the strawberries have disappeared). Fabric fish. I even had spaghetti (strips cut from white fleece) and meatballs, but they were accidentally sucked into the vacuum cleaner a year ago. I should make some new ones. And maybe some sausages from pink felt. And lettuce leaves out of green felt. Making all sorts of playfood is fun and easy, just need to set free some of that creative thinking. I'd like to learn how to knit cupcakes and donuts as well, I've seen some really beautiful ones in blogs of talented knitters!

I was just thinking of telling you that you should show your play-stove on your blog! The food is nice. It's amusing, I think, to have soft carrots!

Hienosti onnistunut liesi!

That stove is adorable, and I love the idea of making play food. My girls are a bit too old for that now, but I too would like to know how to knit cupcakes. The fish are amazing - very realistic!

I have no words!! You are so talented Outi! I love that little stove, so fun for the children!
The small fish looks fantastic. Did you paint them as well?
The christmas book from Antonia Swinson, "Creating your perfect Christmas", looks so perfect for me. The colours and the projects seems so inviting. I don`t even own a Christmas Project book!! I really should buy one. I could always need more inspirations :)
Oh, i love this time of the year, The fresh air, gathering, making it cozy and making lots of warm delicious food. And then all the wonderful Christmas projects :)
I would really love to see one of your stars that you made later on, they sound so pretty. And thank you Outi for sweet words :) I like things that is simple, byt yet pretty or stylish...

Enjoy crafty days, Aina

Juuri tuollaista leikkikeittiötä olen kaipaillut omallekin tytölleni. Ei vain ole ollut aikaa ryhtyä suunnittelemaan. Oikein onnistunut lopputulos! Täytyykin alkaa katsella yöpöytiä sillä silmällä! :) Ja nuo leikkiruoat, voi että kuinka ihania!
